There are many women who find themselves discontented with the aesthetics and functionality of some of their most intimate physical characteristics. Women may find their labia minora to be asymmetrical or enlarged, making personal hygiene difficult and sexual intercourse unsatisfying or painful. Labiaplasty used to reduce and/or change the shape of the labia minora can increase the patient’s self-esteem, allow for improved hygiene, and enable the patient to experience orgasms to a higher extent, or for the first time!
What To Expect
A woman’s labia minora may be asymmetrical or enlarged, making personal hygiene difficult and sexual intercourse unsatisfying or painful. Reducing the size and changing the shape through Labiaplasty can improve both appearance and functionality. This process requires actual reconstruction using plastic surgical/sculpting techniques, rather than simply removing or surgically amputating unwanted tissue. Only with advanced cosmetic techniques will the results be natural looking.
Patients will schedule a pre-surgery consulation with Dr. Aguirre, during which expectations and procedures/techniques are discussed. Dr. Aguirre
is sensitive to each woman’s discomfort and desires regarding their labia. Only following an examination will he then suggest the exact method which he feels will give her the desired results. Often additional procedures are recommended which Dr. Aguirre
feels are necessary to achieve the best aesthetic outcome. This is a direct result of Dr. Aguirre’s vast experience. Labiaplasty is typically an outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia which may be performed in the office, allowing the patient to have her surgery performed in complete privacy and eliminating the additional costs that come with hospital and anesthesiologist fees. Most labiaplasty
procedures may be performed in one hour.
The surgical area following Labiaplasty must be kept very clean. Baths are suggested to help with cleanliness. Patients are typically sore and swollen, but will see a decrease in discomfort within a couple days. An ice pack is key in reducing swelling and thus discomfort. Sutures typically dissolve within 2-3 weeks time. There will be minimal scarring, leaving the surgery virtually undetectable after 6 weeks.
